This motif, named after Balıkesir and its surrounding villages where it is woven, reflects the region's thriving role as a center of pile rug and Kilim weaving. 
For centuries, Balıkesir has carried forward its ancestral heritage, keeping alive this tradition through exquisite hand-woven pieces. 
The region is especially known for using the finest root-dye tones of deep red and navy blue, adding richness and authenticity to its Kilims.
