ORGANIC & ENDURING FIBERS: HANDSPUN KIRMAN WOOL TRADITION
ORGANIC & ENDURING FIBERS: HANDSPUN KIRMAN WOOL TRADITION
Kirman wool, gathered from locally raised sheep, is handspun with a drop spindle.
In some regions, artisans also incorporate fibers from other animals such as yak or goat, blending them with sheep's wool to achieve varied textures and durability.
The raw fibers, organic and untreated, are gently drawn out and twisted into yarn.
Each turn of the spindle strengthens and aligns the fibers, continuing a tradition rooted in Anatolia. This yarn becomes the foundation for knotting, giving both resilience and character to the weave.
